LG Display is speeding up its move to establish 'E6' OLED line that has an annual capacity of 30,000 glasses, which will be the 6th generation OLED production facility, as this 1500mm X 1800mm glass substrate production line is called.

The rush is part of Korean display maker’s great effort to supply OLED to Apple Inc.’s 2018 flagship, as smart phone display trend is rapidly shifting from LCD to OLED. To keep up with Apple’s 2018 iPhone production schedule which will be around first-half of 2018, LG display needs to start ‘E6’ OLED production line humming for mass-production in beforehand.

LG Display recently signed a deal with Canon Tokki Corporation for the chemical vapor system of the new OLED production line.

Ordered set of CVDs from Canon Tokki Corporation, which will be capable to collectively process 15,000 glass substrates per month, plans to be shipped September next year and will be installed to ‘E6’ facility.

The display maker plans to purchase CVD equipment of Canon Tokki Corporation to process other 15,000 glass substrate, but yet specific details are unavailable.
