Samsung Electronics plans to roll out Galaxy note 6 built with new magnetic sheet instead of original ferrite sheet. Ferrite sheet, which is made by combining iron oxide with metals like nickel and manganese, is used forRFID, NFC, and NFP applications.

The move is part of Korean smart phone maker’s effort to gain more bargaining power over ferrite sheet makers while improving flagships’ RF based mobile payment service and wireless power charging system.

The new magnetic sheet is made up of nano-crystals. German company supplies the nano-crystal material to Samsung Electric, and then Samsung Electric laminates the materials to form sheet and antenna. Samsung Electronic will purchase the made sheets and antenna to build its next flagship, Galaxy note 6.

It was reported that Samsung Electric had put great effort to sign a deal with Samsung Electronics to sell its nano-crystal based new magnetic sheet.

New magnetic sheet will not have great improvement whether in performance or speciation, but is known to be much cheaper compared to original ferrite sheet.

Other specific details are unavailable.
