New nano-crystal magnetic sheet based antenna developed by Samsung Electric will come as threat to original ferrite sheet and antenna vendors like Amotech Corp. and TODA ISU, as Samsung Electronics plans to build its flagships with the new antenna.

Recently, magnetic sheet makers are experiencing rapid growth in sales as mobile payment service started to be widely adopted in smart phones. Ferrite sheet market is nearly dominated by Amotech Corp. and TODA ISU.

Amotech Corp. is the biggest ferrite sheet based NFC antenna vendor of Samsung Electronics. The antenna maker was to gain great benefit this year, as its biggest purchaser plans to adopt magnetic sheet in low-cost smart phone.

Unlike widely assumed expectations, original ferrite sheet makers will likely face dragged sales as the Korean smart phone maker plans to build its devices with nano-crystal based magnetic sheet instead of ferrite sheet from second-half of the year.

New nano-crystal magnetic sheet based antenna maker Samsung Electric and original ferrite sheet based antenna makers will compete head-on-head to supply more of antennas to Samsung Electronics.

The competition between Samsung Electric and original players will make Samsung Electronics to purchase antenna cheaper.

Amotech Corp. supplies both ferrite sheet and NFC antenna to Samsung Electronics. RFTech Co., Ltd. purchases ferrite sheet from TODA ISU and Amotech Corp. to make the antenna.

Antenna maker EMW also developed and is supplying ferrite sheet based antenna to Samsung Electronics. SKC also had put great effort to jump into the magnetic sheet market.
